Traveling faster than a speeding bullet “La Gorzadera” by Gente de Zona (GDZ) is already at number nine on the Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs chart and almost has 3 million views on Youtube in less than a week, which might indicate the hot Latin song for this summer.
You can easily see that GDZ followed the same amazing path that exploded Enrique Iglesias’ “Bailando” all over 2014. The Cuban reggaeton duo were part of that “Bailando” success that saw the song go to number one on four different Billboard charts and sell more than one million copies in the U.S.
This time the song is theirs, even though it pretty much has the same “Bailando” Latin dance vibe. But who cares! I love dancing, and I loved the “Bailando” vibe.
Ok, but wait. What about the new “La Gozadera” video that uses the same “Bailando” people, Cuban director Alejandro Perez and dance choreographer for the Cuban Television Ballet Roclan Gonzalez?
Yeah, so what? They even dance and sing in a crowded Caribbean street – which was in Havana, Cuba – like they did before in “Bailando,” which was done in the Dominican Republic.
And the song features salsa superstar Marc Anthony. How awesome is that. We get to relive “Bailando” with a brand new song that sounds and looks almost the same with almost the same artists.
However, what makes the song so special is that it’s a joyful musical anthem to Cuba and all the Latin American countries. Parts of the song continuously invites a list of Spanish-speaking countries to join “La Gozadera”. Now that’s awesome.
