So what artist did La India finally surpass to be the female with the most Tropical Charts No. 1s on the Billboard? If your guess is the legendary Gloria Estefan then you are absolutely correct.
India’s latest single “Ahora Que Te Vas” has jumped from its fourth spot to number one on Billboard’s Tropical Songs category dated July 25. This is the singer’s eighth chart-topper in her career, which is the most No. 1s among women in the chart’s 21-year history. It also breaks the tie she had with Gloria Estefan. Maybe this might motivate Estefan to make another Latin rhythm hit.
Well I guess the iconic Puerto Rican has once again earned the name ‘La Princesa de la Salsa’. She just hopped over the top Latin songs of the summer like the now number three spot “La Gozadera” by Gente de Zona featuring Marc Anthony and the currently number two “Mi Calendario” by Hector ‘El Torito’ Acosta. On the Tropical Songs category, the single has only been in the charts for six weeks and it was just last week where “Ahora” was at number four before its 35 percent more radio play pushed it the top.
The single “Ahora Que Te Vas” is from the three-time Latin Grammy nominated artist’s album, Intensamente con Canciones de Juan Gabriel, a salsa version of Juan Gabriel’s hit songs. India’s longtime collaborator, Sergio George, produced the album.
