Baby Bash saw success for his own imprint Bashtown Music Group in 2011 through the release of his fourth studio album and the success of the album’s singles “Fantasy Girl” and “Go Girl.” 2012 looks even brighter for the feel-good hip hop artist, as his current single is hitting the airwaves with quite a force. Introduced to radio at the end of 2011, the new single “Slide Over” is produced by long-time collaborator Happy Perez and features R&B artist Miguel, a duo that just came off of a platinum collaboration with the single, “Sure Thing.” “Slide Over” is impacting at radio and a major fan request almost overnight. Bash’s core following in the Southwest immediately picked up the single and buzz for “Slide Over” is quickly spreading throughout the United States.
Consistent with Baby Bash’s sound of feel-good hip hop, peppered with classy R&B bravado, soaring pop melodies and saucy grooves, “Slide Over” is quintessentially Bash and the perfect lead single for his newest Bashtown production. The Happy Perez-produced record is a sexy rap ballad delivering a colorful and powerful concoction of music to move the body and soothe the soul. This collaboration with Miguel honors Bash’s heritage through a Latin sonic sensibility, but his sound still bears an urban grit and gusto.
His alchemy of rap, reggae and Latin styles has made Bash one of the most sought-out producers and writers in the game, leading to collaborations with everyone from Carlos Santana and Whitney Houston to Flo Rida and Lloyd. That Bash-sound combines unique melodies to even the hardest club banger beats. “These days I think people need feel-good music because it’s a crazy world out there and times are tough, especially now.” He continues, “I am a hardworking dude and I write for my hardworking fans who want to dance and smile at the end of the day. I build relationships with every fan and everyone in the industry that I meet. I want to be a people’s champ.”
His happiness is infectious and that feel-good vibe has made him a platinum-selling mainstay on the urban, mainstream and Latin charts. In early 2012, he is proving that the coming year will prove to keep Baby Bash and his Bashtown Music Group imprint topping the charts. He is working on two projects. The first is an album with longtime collaborators R&B artist Frankie J and producer Happy Perez called “Sangria.” This same collaboration delivered the mega hits “Suga, Suga” and their remake of “Obsession.” With a history like that, it promises to be spicy. He is also working on his solo project, on which this current single “Slide Over” will be released, entitled “Cool and Consistent.”
In celebration of his Mexican American heritage, he plans to have these projects ready for release in early May, just in time for Cinco de Mayo. There are sure to be many festivities planned around the album release. Details about his upcoming project, new music, shows, events, and news are forthcoming.
