NEWS BREAK: Mario Lopez in a Bar Fight?

You can’t make this news up…

Police were called last week to Mullets Sports Bar & Restaurant in Homer Glen to deal with an angry customer who allegedly shattered a framed photo of A.C. Slater, a fictional, mullet-wearing jock played by Mario Lopez in the 1990s television series “Saved by the Bell.”

“I just don’t like Slater,” the man reportedly told the owner after allegedly yanking the photo from its place of pride above a urinal and smashing it on the floor. The owner told police the bathroom door also was damaged.

The man left after another person gave the bar owner $11 for the broken frame, according to a Will County sheriff’s police account. A message left Wednesday for the bar owner wasn’t returned.

A sad day for Mullets’ wall of fame, for sure.

A Message from Demi Lovato!

In a message posted on her Facebook addressing her friends, the Disney’s Camp
Rock and Sonny with a Chance star thanked her fans for their continued support
since the young star entered a rehabilitation center. Lovato is currently
undergoing treatment for “emotional and physical issues,” after an incident back
in November when Lovato was reported to have punched a dancer after an incident.
The incident occurred while Lovato was on an international tour with fellow
Disney stars the Jonas Brothers. The Disney tween has been in rehab since
late-November, early December, trying to work out her issues, issues that may
have stemmed from her recent breakup with 21-year-old, Joe Jonas and body image
problems the 18-year-old star has been known to have troubles with in the past.

Despite being in rehab, Lovato took time to address fans after being voted
Favorite TV Guest Star for her stint on Grey’s Antaomy at the People’s Choice
awards this Saturday. On her Facebook, Lovato wrote: “I wish to thank all the
friends and fans who voted for me for the People’s Choice Awards…I want to make
sure my fans know who thankful I am for all their love, support and prayers
during this time…Thank you for standing beside me through it all.” Goes to show
some fans are truly helpful for a celebrity in crisis, here’s to wishing Demi
the best of health.

Eva Longoria: Off to Court!

Eva Longoria is having quite the New Year. The Desperate Housewife star is just getting out of divorce with basketball star, Tony Parker but before she can officially put the legal system behind her she may have to head right back in since she’s being sued. In the filed lawsuit, an investor, Mali Nachum, is suing Longoria after claiming that an interest agreement on the loan violates California Law and is demanding that Longoria return an estimated $4.6 million that she’s earned from the Beso restaurant and club the plaintiff has invested in, the amount also includes some legal fees.

In a response to the lawsuit, Longoria’s rep calls the action a “desperate reaction in a lawsuit without merit by prior partners who, through their unauthorized and fraudulent actions, required Eva Longoria to seek reorganization protection through bankruptcy court,” claiming the star is being used as a scapegoat for Nachum who has just recently filed for Chapter 11 just last week. Shouldn’t be too bad for Longoria, she seems to be doing nicely in the court system due to her divorce going amicably.

This Could Be Yours, Fellas!

Shakira and Antonio de la Rua, her boyfriend of 11 years, have broken up, the pair told the Spanish-language newspaper El Pais.

In a letter to the paper, Shakira and de la Rua, her agent and the son of former Argentine President Fernando de la Rua will continue to work together, and call the split “temporary.”

In October 2009, Shakira told Rolling Stone that, “My body feels like it is asking to reproduce, to have a huge belly and carry babies.”

The letter, which Shakira also posted on her blog, follows below:

Dear Friends,

During our almost 11 years together we have loved each other deeply, taken care of each other and stood by one another. They have been the most wonderful years of our lives, and thanks to that love and the respect that we share for one another we have been an exceptional couple and partners.

However, since August 2010, we made a mutual decision to take time apart from our romantic relationship. Throughout this time we have continued to work together hand in hand, have remained close and have kept the details absolutely private until now.

We view this period of separation as temporary and as a time of individual growth as we continue to be partners in our business and professional lives.

No fighting, boys…

Edgar Ramirez: (Latino) Greek God!

It seems that in the 2010 remake Clash of the Titans sequel, Wrath of the Titans has found an actor to play yet another angry god in the film franchise. Venezuelan actor Edgar Ramirez has signed on to play the Greek god of War, Ares. Aside from getting the role as a Greek god, Ramirez recently earned Golden Globe and SAG award nods for his portrayal of terrorist Carlos the Jackal, a terrorist who has been convicted for murder and working for causes linked to communists, Arab nationalists and Islamists, in Olivier Assayas’s film Carlos. Ramirez last noticeable films were starring in Tony Scott’s Domino (2005) as bounty hunter Choco alongside Keira Knightley and Mickey Rourke and in Paul Greengrass The Bourne Ultimatum (2007) as CIA assassin Paz alongside Matt Damon.

What’s the tie between Penelope Cruz & Eva Longoria?

Well it seems to be one Eduardo Cruz, Penelope’s little brother.  According to sources, the recently divorce Desperate Housewife star has been seen spending time with Cruz’s little brother which has even lead to the two spending some time on Christmas Eve spent at Longoria’s home. Spending time together in her abode is uncommon since a insider discloses that Eduardo spends at least three nights out of four with Longoria. The possible hideaway may be due to the pair wanting to stay out of the spotlight since Longoria’s recent split from her husband two months ago basketball player, Tony Parker.

Even though the pair has been spending some time together, both public and private, Longoria’s rep claims the two are simply just friends. If the two are seeing each other, the Cruz family has just obtained yet another Latino celebrity to vacate another seat at the family table left behind by recent inductee Javier Bardem who is expecting a child with Penelope due sometime this month.

John Leguizamo: Return to Broadway!

Eight years has passed since actor and Broadway veteran John Leguizamo was on the big stage. Since his 2003 Broadway show Sexaholix, Leguizamo returns with another one-man show entitled Ghetto Klown which follows the same motor-mouth storytelling seen in his prior shows Spic-O-Rama (1993), Freak (1998), and Sexaholix…a love story. In Ghetto Klown, Leguizamo promises to take the audience through his past starting with his adolescent years in Queens up into the beginning of his theatre career during the 80s. The show will also detail some of Leguizamo’s experience and interactions with some of Hollywood’s biggest stars he’s encountered while on the set of films he starred in some like William Shakespeare’s Romeo + Juliet (1996), Moulin Rouge! (2001), Carlito’s Way (1993), and including others.

In a news release for Ghetto Klown, Leguizamo explains the play was conceived to address how he overcame a traumatic experience that nearly made him want to stop doing one-man shows altogether. While not giving any details on the experience that almost ended his desire to do one-man plays, possibly something saved for the show itself, Leguizamo finds that traumatic experiences in general are “all relative…we artists, we’re too sensitive sometimes and we’ve got to get over ourselves. That’s the lesson: you’ve got to get over yourself.”  Ghetto Klown will be previewed on February 22, 2011 and will begin its twelve week run starting March 22, 2011.
