Eva Marie is not well. She has 30 days to reflect on her suspension from WWE. She was the third performer this month to be found in violation of the WWE Talent Wellness Policy. Along with Alberto Del Rio and Paige, Eva has to wonder what could have been.
With the brand split into WWE Raw and Smackdown, there was opportunity for these returning stars. Eva, who is often criticized fo her lack of ring skills, had just arrived from NXT. Her look and ability to play an effective heel had her touted as being the women’s champion in WWE Smackdown.
But it was not to be. For a month at least. Her debut match was remembered more for her wardrobe malfunction and never wrestled that night. Then comes the suspension as questions arise about the continued pressures of the business that has seen many younger stars leave due to the intense travel schedule.
Marie’s husband, Jonathan Coyle, is in opposition to the suspension. He responded by saying that
“when the public finds out why my wife was unjustly suspended they will be absolutely outraged.”
Coyle knows a different Eva. A Mexican-Italian college athlete-model from California who played soccer at California State University, Fullerton before the world of entertainment drew her away and making it work for her regardless of her ring work.
It was announced later that the reason for her suspension was her use of Adderall, which was legally prescribed and used to treat ADHD. What this says is professional wrestlers sometimes do their job so well that fans forget they are human after all.
