Manifestaciones, a print portfolio by the printmaking collective Dominican York Proyecto GRAFICA (DYPG) is on view at the Empire State College Metro Gallery March 9 through April 28. The opening reception will be held Tuesday, March 22 at the Gallery with a panel presentation by the artists at 5:30 p.m. followed by a reception from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Metro Gallery, on the fifth floor of the Metropolitan Center at 325 Hudson Street (entry on Van Dam), New York, NY 10013, in SOHO.

Manifestaciones, DYPG’s first group project, is a portfolio of 12 prints, one each by the member artists, published in a limited edition of 25. Using a variety of printmaking techniques, the pieces explore the individual artist’s perspective on the theme of Dominicanidad (Dominican identity) and the immigrant experience.
Three internationally renowned art scholars have provided curatorial essays for the exhibit: Betty Wilde-Biasiny, assistant professor of visual arts at Empire State College Metro, and independent curators and art historians
E. Carmen Ramos and Graciela Kartofel, both specialists in Latin American and Latino art.
Founded in 2010 in New York City, DYPG is the first printmaking collective of artists of Dominican descent living and working in the United States. DYPG’s mission is to advance the state of contemporary Dominican American graphic arts through a rich and varied collaboration, creating prints using a variety of techniques from the traditional to the latest and most innovative, and to broaden the public’s knowledge of modern Dominican culture through exhibitions, lectures, and workshops. The artists of Dominican York Proyecto GRAFICA are: Carlos Almonte, Pepe Coronado, René De Los Santos, Iliana Emilia Garcia, Scherezade Garcia, Alex Guerrero, Luanda Lozano, Miguel Luciano, Yunior Chiqui Mendoza, Reynaldo Garcia Pantaleón, Moses Ros-Suaréz, and Rider Ureña.
