19-year-old David Archuleta achieved substantial success when he was named runner up on America Idol back in 2008.
After a successful debut album self titled David Archuleta, he sold over 750,000 in the U.S., and 900,000 copies worldwide. Now, the young phenom has returned with his sophomore effort entitled The Other Side of Down released this past Tuesday.
He sat down with Latina.Com recently, and spoke to them in regards of the new judges on American Idol, and a possible Spanish language recorded album.
His thoughts on possibly making a Spanish language recorded album: “That is something that I would love to do. I mentioned it to my label and they’re excited about it. Half of my family is Hispanic. I want to show them my gratitude. I don’t speak as much Spanish as I would like to. I still talk to my grandpa in Spanish. I want to immerse myself in that culture.”
Thoughts on the new judges for Idol: “They’re able to relate more. They have a better understanding of what’s going on because they’ve been there as performers. Having a Latina as a judge is great!”
