Although the film franchise faced money problems and the development of the next installment went into pre-production limbo, the James Bond films got back on track earlier this month and the next picture in the ongoing series Bond 23 is expected to be released in November 2012. With Sam Mendes expected to direct, Daniel Craig still portraying spy extraordinaire James Bond, and Judi Dench slated to return as M it was recently announced that Biutiful star and Oscar nominee Javier Bardem landed himself a main part in the film. What part exactly? No clue, the role is being kept tightly wrapped.
Despite the lack of information released on who Bardem will play in the upcoming James Bond flick, there are speculations that Bardem will be Bond’s newest arch villain. If the rumors are true (let’s hope) this will Bardem’s second villainous role since his chilling portrayal in 2007’s No Country for Old Men as hitman Anton Chigurh. Aside from landing an Oscar nod, and becoming a father, there are rumors circulating that Bardem has landed the role of protagonist Roland Deschain in Ron Howard’s Dark Tower adaptation of Stephen King’s novel. 2011 is looking like a pretty good year for the Latino actor.
