Actress Jessica Alba is adding a new role to her list of credits, and that’s entrepreneur.
On Tuesday, the mother of two will launch The Honest Company, (honest.com), an e-commerce business, which sells eco-friendly products, such as diapers, baby wipes, household cleaning and body care items for a monthly subscription fee.
Alba well known for her role in “Honey”, “Dark Angel”, “Love Guru” and most recent “Spy Kids”. Started this idea when she herself realized how many affordable but toxic baby products are out there on the market, and how little eco-friendly non toxic but affordable baby products are out on the market. After researching some baby products during her pregnancy Alba stated this.
“When I was pregnant three-and-a-half years ago with my daughter, Honor, I started researching how to have a safe home,” said Alba. “I was shocked to learn how many dangerous chemicals were in the products I used, including many I had assumed were safe.”
After testing a laundry detergent on herself to see if it was safe for the baby she broke out it a rash due to her sensitive skin, she knew that wasn’t the product for her children, which made her go on to say.
“If it had that effect on me, I didn’t want to use it anywhere near my infant daughter,” said Alba. “There are many studies that suggest a link between chemicals found in many of the everyday products we use and they cause diseases including cancer, asthma and ADHD.”
It seems Ms. Alba is breaking out of the simply shooting movies and T.V shows and aiming to become more of a role model and spokesperson for mothers. Along with the representative for the well being of our future that being the children.
