Whether its instagram, tumblr, facebook, or twitter there is only one group that’s more socially connected to the world of social media, and that group is Latinos.
According to a new report released by Pew report, “Today, social networking site use is a major activity for internet users from a wide range of demographic groups. Younger adults are especially avid adopters, but social networking continues to grow in popularity for older adults as well. Six out of ten internet users ages 50-64 are social networking site users, as are 43% of those ages 65 and older.”
But out of those surveyed, Latinos are the most active group on social media networking sites. Today, 72%–or three quarters—of U.S adults are using social media networking websites. In 2012, only 72% of Latinos were reported to be users of social networking sites but in the year the number has risen increased by 8%. Latino adults in the United States use social media more than Whites listed at 70% and African-Americans listed at 75%.
The increase of Latinos using social media websites shows that the group continues to be the fastest growing demographic in the United States. And being the growing population, Latinos are reinforcing the recent trend of focused adverts being targeted at the group because they are now the most responsive to ads promoting various brands viewed on such social media websites.
Since the 2012 elections, Latinos have seemingly become politics and corporate brands top interest seeing that Latinos will soon make up the largest population in the United States.
