Ok, so sitting down and watching television is not a good way to work out, but watching funny programs like “Lopez Tonight” or the new hit series “Jane the Virgin” and laughing to every weird, quirky and funny scene that occurs will improve your health. Laughter is a powerful muscle relaxer, stress reliever and it is a great workout. Here are just five benefits that occur when you don’t text LOL but you actually laugh out loud.
Laughter relaxes the blood vessels and increases blood flow, which reduces the risk of heart attacks and strokes. So enjoying life and laughing often is good for the heart.
If somebody asks you to workout with them, just tell them a bunch of jokes. Laughter is a great way to workout your abs causing the stomach muscles to contract and expand. If you like a greater workout routine you can include tickling to intensify the laughter. Yet, I wouldn’t suggest tickling everyone in the gym. But being tickled or just laughing will pump your heart and burn the same amount of calories as walking at a moderate speed.
The impact of stress can cause anxiety, muscle tension and sleeplessness. One of the great benefits of laughter is releasing stress from the mind, body and soul. A hearty laugh will relieve physical tension in your body, reduce stress hormones and improve rest. Enjoying a good laugh will relax your muscles up to 45 minutes, which will help you sleep better.
Activate your T cells by laughing to improve your immune system and infection-fighting antibodies. The more you laugh the less sickness and viruses you will have to deal with.
Laugh your pain away by producing endorphins, a natural painkiller in your system, to ease body aches and muscle soreness. The body’s natural feel-good chemicals will make you feel good all over when you begin to laugh your pains away.
