On September 3rd, Latinos will have a superhero to idolize and rave about as Danny Trejo will morph into Machete. Sparked by a myriad of violent encounters, and grueling scenes of killing, Latinos will be able to embrace their first superhero highlighted in an English-Language film. The movie – co directed by Robert Rodriguez and Ethan Maniquis and co-written by Alvaro Rodriguez and Robert Rodriguez – is spruced by drug wars, and legendary actors and actresses destined to recreate some of the most action packed scenes since Bruce Willis Die Hard, and Mel Gibson’s Lethal Weapon.
Trejo – appearing in his first starring role – plays a Mexican Federale. Tailored by a bad ass persona, Trejo works as a day laborer in Texas, but later, is hired by a crooked bashing suit – played by Jeff Fahey – to assassinate a US senator (Robert Dinero). While Machete attempts to complete the incriminating task of killing the senator, he later realizes he is being set up to give Mexicans a bad name, in hopes of stirring potential conflict against Mexican immigrants. With a team of consisting of Jessica Alba, Michelle Rodriguez, Lindsey Lohan, and Cheech Marin, Machete prepares himself to get revenge against those who betrayed him.
As previously mentioned, Trejo will be the leading actor for the first time in his career. Trejo had been featured in a throng of films including Heat, Blood In Blood Out, Grindhouse, Spy Kids, From Dusk Til Dawn.
