The 2016 Olympic Trials for Women’s Boxing will be taking place in Memphis, Tennessee from October 26-31. It is the smallest weight class (Flyweight) with the biggest star, Marlen Esparza.
As she competes to qualify for one of the three berths to earn the right to represent the United States at the 2016 Olympics in Brazil, there are six facts you should be familiar with as she begins her journey to Gold.
1-Marlen is currently ranked number one in her weight class in the nation.
2- Esparza is one of four boxers to be returning for their second Olympic Trials.
3-Marlen is one of three women to claim a USA Boxing championship with nine Flyweight titles.
