Elected officials in attendance included Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr.; Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer; New York State Senator Adriano Espaillat; New York State Assembly Member Guillermo Linares; New York Council Member Ydanis Rodriguez; New York Council Member Nelson Castro; Socrates Solano, Representative of Congressman Charles Rangel; and Dominican Consul in New York Maximo Corcino.
During the reception, Alma Maria from Univision Radio’s “The Luis Jimenez Morning Show” presented the radio program’s $10,000 donation to the Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York. The check was received by Commissioner Yolanda B. Jimenez from the Office to Combat Domestic Violence.
WADO 1280 AM then received a proclamation from Mayor Bloomberg, Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. and New York State Senator Adriano Espaillat commemorating its 50th anniversary.
Other personalities that joined the elected officials and community leaders to commemorate the holiday included: Univision Radio’s Ino Gomez, Coco Cabrera, Frederick Martinez “El Pacha,” Derek de la Hoz “El Padrino,” and Ricardo Espinoza, plus WXTV Univision 41 news anchor Rafael Pineda, weather anchor Nilda Rosario and entertainment reporter Gelena Solano.
