Suspected of having played a role in the shooting death of semi-pro football player Odin Lloyd, New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez was arrested at his North Attleborough, Mass. home Wednesday morning.
What Hernandez will be charged with is still unknown, but police have executed a pair of search warrants inside his home, according to the New York Daily News, which also reported Wednesday that the 23-year-old hasn’t cooperated with police and has been visited by “prominent” defense attorney James L. Sultan.
Hernandez allegedly “intentionally destroyed” his home video surveillance system and hired a cleanup crew on Monday, June 17, the same day Lloyd’s body was discovered about one-quarter of a mile from the tight end’s home. Witnesses say Lloyd, 27, Hernandez and two others were together on Sunday, June 16.
Lloyd was a known associate of Hernandez. According to reports, Lloyd was dating the sister of Hernandez’s girlfriend, Shayanna Jenkins, with whom the fourth-year Patriot has a baby daughter.
