If you have not seen the band Bocatabu play live you are missing out on a great show. The band from the Dominican Republic preformed in various areas in New York City and I got to witness their live uncut show at Concha Wine Room. The sound of the electric guitar and piano mixed with violins and the vocals of Giorgio Siladi made for a harmonious sound. Everyone in the band had there time to shine with solo performance’s showcased his or her skills.
The band consist of Oscar Patxot(piano player),Edwardo Fernandez(electric guitar), and lead singer Giorgio Siladi. In a music industry that is based on image and autotune Bocatabu is like a breath of fresh air. The band has evolved and developed a new melodic sound that mixes classical structures, rock structure and pop structures.
When I asked the guys about what they thought about NYC they said “It’s amazing I love it. I think this is one of the best cities in the world really. We’re going to stay here for a couple of days and watch some shows. The reception of the people has been amazing we didn’t expect for the reception to be this big. We are already planning a few more concerts.”
