The SOHO International Film Festival NYC (SOHOFilmFest) is proud to announce that it has secured a bevy of outstanding world class independent films, including several that will be supported and expected to be attended by stars such as Armande Assante, Eric Roberts, Tony Danza, The Jonas Brothers, Anne Heche, Carrie Preston, Mike Starr, Alia Shakwat and Frank Vincent, who garnered the festival’s “NYC Icon Award” last year.
SOHOFilmFest honors cutting edge film technology and traditional forms of storytelling. It runs the week of April 13th to the 20th, and due to its meteoric growth in just three years, the festival has moved to a larger and historic venue, the Landmark’s Sunshine Cinema located at 143 East Houston Street.
Rife with feature length world class indie cinema, short films and documentaries from countries such as Australia, Bangladesh, Canada, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, the Philippines, Puerto Rico, Spain, Turkey, the U.K., and of course, the U.S., the festival will be screening several World Premieres, including A Genius on Hold, The Night Never Sleeps, Witness: El Testigo, and A Weekend to Remember, as well as several high profile films making their NY premiere like The Stand In, Forgetting the Girl, Growthbusters, From The Head, Pig, Face to Face (Australia), Leila (UK), Davon Willst du Nichts Wissen (Germany), Bloodtraffik (Hong Kong) and straight from Sundance, That’s What She Said.
On April 15th, the festival will feature “Spotlight Puerto Rico” with a block of exciting new films from the island and on the 20th the festival will wrap with the 15th anniversary screening of the famous cult feature indie film, The Deli, by renowned director John Gallagher to a celebrity attended event.
The SOHO International Film Festival proudly carries the “Made in NY” logo from the NYC Mayor’s Office of Film, Television and Broadcasting, a vehicle to help the economy of the city, enhancing the festival’s sense of pride while boosting filmmaking and tourism in the Big Apple.
