Want to take a swim without coming home covered in sand? NYC Parks Dept pools are opned until Sept 3rd!
Just want to float around with a buddy? Head to a mini pool at Bronx River Playground (Bx), on E174th St & Bronx River Ave; Lindower Park (Bklyn), on E60th St-Mill Rd. & Strickland Ave; Abe Lincoln (Mnh), on Fifth Ave & E135th St; Marie Cuire Park (Qns), on 211th St & 46th Ave; and PS 46 Playground (SI), on Parkinson Ave & Kramer St.
Practicing your back stroke? Head to these intermidate pools: Floating Pool (Bx) Tiffany St & Viele Ave; Brownsville (Bklyn) Linden - Mother Gaston Blvds & Christopher St; dry Dock (Mnh) E10th Street, between Avenues C & D; Fort Totten (Qns) 338 Story Ave; and West Brighton (SI) Henderson Avenue between Broadway and Chappel Sts.

NYC Dominican Day Parade

Though official Dominican independence is in Feb, NYC Dominicans now have a chance to celebrate with summer fun. The NYC Dominican Day Parade will take place on the 12th, Sunday, along the Ave of the Americas (Sixth Ave). And we all know to be REALLY early to get a good spot!

First ever boxing match in a New York City Casino

Saturday, September 22nd, 2012 will be a historic night of boxing as New Legend Boxing, Old World Boxing and W.O.N Promotions present a spectacular show at the beautiful Resorts World Casino in Queens New York. This event will be the first ever professional boxing event staged in a New York City casino.





LaMicro Theater: City Non-Specific


LaMicro is committed to presenting under-produced playwrights and also to experiment with new media technology and work in collaboration with contemporary artists. City Non-Specific is a devised, ensemble-created piece that combines movement, dance, theater and multimedia. It is based on experiences of people living in a big city. The work is an exploration of conflicting and humorous situations that could occur in big city spaces and contexts. Behavioral gestures will be used to create short vignettes, reflecting moments of every day life.
LaMicro Theater’s mission is to present high-quality Spanish,Latin American, and U.S. Latino theater in English and bilingual productions. Their aim is to expose audiences to contemporary and emerging playwrights, exploring new ideas and generating dialogue concerning the realities faced by our diverse communities.
Performers for City Non-Specific include P. Gonzalez, Hazuki Homma, Berioska Ipinza and Sonia Portugal.

Escandalos de Farandula: J-Lo & Shakira Blackmailed

Former driver for Jennifer Lopez, Hakob Manoukian was trying to extort her for 2.8 million dollars before she decided to take him to court.  According to Lopez’ camp, Manoukian and JLO’s manager Benny Medina had a falling out last summer over a security team that Medina wanted to hire against Manoukian’s recommendation.   Manoukian later became “hostile and angry” toward Medina and “plotted to retaliate” against the star and her manager. He abruptly terminated his employment with Ms. Lopez and began to threaten her.  JLo wants him to pay her $20 million in damages, but Hakob is not backing down.

Olympic Trends: Gold Medals in Hispanic Countries



The 2012 London Olympics are still going on, and as of today, Brazil is in the lead of all the Latin American countries.
As of this writing, Brazil has two (2) gold medals, one (1) silver medal, and seven (7) bronze medals, for a grand total of ten (10) medals.
