
Purina ONE® beyOnd® brand dog and cat food and GOOD Worldwide LLC – an integrated media, thought leadership and community action platform for the GOOD community of people and organizations moving the world forward – are proud to announce Dogs For The Deaf as the Winning Shelter in the Shine a Light on a Shelter challenge and the recipient of a $10,000 grant to help continue its mission in changing perceptions of shelter pets.
Dogs For The Deaf, which is based in Central Point, Ore., has rescued and professionally trained more than 3,000 dogs to assist, enhance and provide greater independence to a variety of people with disabilities or challenges.
“Shelter pets are amazing and deserve to be recognized as loving, adoptable animals. We are proud to award Dogs For The Deaf a $10,000 grant to continue its work to enrich the lives of the community it serves,” said Christina Schneider, assistant brand manager, Purina ONE® brand dog and cat food. “We are committed to honoring pet welfare organizations like Dogs For the Deaf that promote positive experiences in their communities.”
Purina ONE® beyOnd® and GOOD believe everyone can make a positive difference when it comes to enriching the lives of shelter pets and helping them find forever homes. In the Shine a Light on a Shelter challenge, Purina ONE® beyOnd® and GOOD challenged Participants to tell the story of a shelter that was making a real difference in the lives of shelter pets and then they invited the public to vote for their favorite.

Shine a Light on a Shelter Applications were accepted June 28, 2012, through July 30, 2012. Forty finalists were selected and the public was invited to vote August 6, 2012, through August 20, 2012. The Winning Shelter receives a $10,000 grant from Purina ONE® beyOnd® brand dog and cat food to expand its work. The Participant who nominated the Winning Shelter will receive one (1) year’s worth of Purina ONE® beyOnd® pet food and one (1) year subscription to GOOD magazine.
