Williamsburg’s very own Eddie Olmo has been selected to screen his new film”Vivir Asi” at the Williamsburg International Film Festival on Friday September 20th, from 6pm-8pm. The festival which runs from September 20th to September 23rd, is one of a kind and is quickly becoming one of the most recognized Film Festivals in the city.
“Vivir Asi” is the first Bollywood inspired, Puerto Rican musical, told in spanish with english subtitles. The story begins when Mita, played by Shari Abdul, meets Raffy, played by Luis Bordoy, jumps in front of a cab that Mita was in. Mita helps Raffy and in turn the two of them become involved in a relationship. When Mita and Raffy move in together that’s when the conflict starts.
The film is inspired by a song written by Pedro Pipo Pica Ortiz who also stars in the film as Abuelo,Mita’s grandfather. Pipo Pica has written many songs for artists like Ismael Rivera, Jesus Cepeda and Ralphy Levitt.
Eddie Olmo is a new, talented Filmmaker, with two films under his belt whose inspiration is more global that Hollywood. His first film, “My Name Is…”, was screened at the Big Apple Film Festival and the Williamsburg Independent Film Festival. In this film Eddie co-writes the song “Te Conoci” and plays most of the percussion on the song “Ahora Que Todo Es Amor”.
