Winter’s Tale is set in a mythic New York City and tells the story of a burglar who falls for a heiress. It depicts the age-old battle between good and evil. Moreover, it is a story of love, loss, and the miraculous power of hope.
Cast members and renown screenwriter Akiva Goldsman united, in a press conference, to discuss the various aspects of this film.
When asked whether they felt love was overrated, Colin Farrell, Jennifer Connelly, Eva Marie Saint, Jessica Brown Findlay and Akiva Goldsman seemed to agree that, on the contrary, love is underrated. “There’s nothing that I’ve experienced that’s more powerful and magical than love,” Connelly admitted.
“I think love has to be the one thing that defines us as human beings, our ability to care for each other,” Farrell chimed in.
“Love is a powerful emotion and it’s my favorite emotion in life,” Saint declared with great enthusiasm.
Goldsman took on the project feeling strongly about it. He described Winter’s Tale as “a wink and a nod to people who have had loss.” He felt compelled by the book’s message that “we’re all worth saving and that you don’t have to be special for the universe to take care of you. It is taking care of you, even when you can’t see it.”
“I’m okay with life being defined more by mystery than by history,” Farrell concluded, an undeniable aspect of this film.
To what lengths will one go for love? Are there any limits to how far love and hope can extend?Winter’s Tale is a magical story of love’s ability to transcend. Winter’s Tale hits theaters today.
