On the Rundown I had the honor to catch up with Uproot Andy and Geko Jones from the group Que Bajo. There impact on the underground nightlife is continuously evolving in the New York City area. While most DJ’s spin the usual mainstream music Que Bajo is on a league of there own.
When I asked Geko what made Que Bajo different from all the rest he said “We bring together a wide array of genres and music styles largely coming out of Latin America and the Caribbean but also sounds from all over the world. We try to keep a real open mind on music genre and listen to everything that gets to us and find a real common ground to these things. Then we play it at the party.”
They group came together in 2008 and never looked back. Since then they have blessed many stages but I asked where would they want to preform Geko said “We want to preform everywhere. We are really excited with things that we have this month. We have rebel music academy talent class, we are super excited about that. And this month we are playing at a new electronical club called Output in Brooklyn and also Culture Clash.”
When asked what influences your music? Que Bajo simply put it “New York City, New York is the home of different cultures and diversity.” For more information on the boys from “Que Bajo?!” go to www.quebajo.com or follow them on twitter @QueBajo
