Time Warner, the cable giant, has partnered with the NY Giants, Victor Cruz, to promote their “Enjoy Sports Better” initiative program and it couldn’t have been at a better time since Cruz has just finished his book titled “Victor Cruz: Out of the Blue” . Victor Cruz will partake in numerous events, appearances and a national advertising campaign. To commence this collaboration the NY Giant made two presentations in July, one at the Queens Theater on July 13th where fans, the public and the media where able to get an inside look into the life of Victor Cruz. The event was moderated by NY1’s Budd Mishkin. Victor spoke about his life growing up in Patterson, his plight while attending college and how he landed his career. Cruz’s journey has not been an easy one and for that reason he was compelled to write his memoir. The Wide Receiver feels that his story could be an inspiration to the youth in the communities since he had a difficult time getting to where he’s at. Even though the book is titled “Out of the Blue” Victor tells the audience that his stardom did not just happened overnight and that it took the advice and support from his friends, family and his determination to lead him to accomplishing his objective. At the end of the event goodie bags were handed out with a copy of Victor Cruz’s book.
Time Warner reached out to the community and invited different youth organizations to take part in this great event. The kids were excited that this lifetime chance was handed to them and Victor Cruz seemed to especially love the children. Victor even invited a child whose dream was to meet him to join him on stage till the end of the discussion.
The second event was a book signing event at the Queens Center Mall on July 20th, where the crowd waited patiently hours before Victor Cruz’s arrival at the Time Warner Store, located at the lower level of the Mall. Victor took pictures at this event with his fans and Time Warner donated to the first 500 people a copy of “Victor Cruz: Out of the Blue”.
Time Warner is also focusing in on their Queens market, while these two campaigns were about sports they are also part of the “Enjoy Queens Better” movement. This campaign celebrates the borough’s culture and diversity. Time Warner is striving not only in internet, TV and phone service, but with understanding and reaching out to the communities by making dreams come true for those who might not have the opportunity.
