This Havana born singer-rapper, known as Danay Suarez,is coming to New York, to make two appearances at the Latin Alternative Music Conference (LAMC). Danay has come a long way from the woman who was denied by the Cuba Musical Observatory. What they did was open the way for her to beome a major player in the Cuban underground movement. Her unique voice and classy singing style shares great chemistry with Hip-Hop, Jazz, Reggae, among other genres and gained a reputation in Europe of a most promising international artist.
By joining “Opera de la Calle” in 2003, she was given the opportunity to work on her talent. She found it easy to adapt to different genres easily. The results were world festivals and fame which attracted the LAMC to bring her at this time as well as the label, Universal Music Latin Entertainment. “Flores” is the single that is being promoted heavily. A track descibed as a melodic reggae infused song, that touches on using inner feelings of peace to keep changes in life or war at bay.
Suarez is filming the video in Miami and will be releasing a deluxe version of her album. “Polvo de la Humedad” in August. Her personal highlight had to be performing before 120,000 fans at Columbia’s famous “Hip-Hop al Parque” festival. In 2014, we will see a new album called “Palabras Manuales“, the first project of hers released through Universal Music. She is slated to appear Wednesday July 9th at the Mercury Lounge and Friday July 11th, at S.O.B’s
