In an interview wit XXL Magazine, Fat Joe expresses his thoughts on the backlash Joel Ortiz experienced for his track “Big Pun’s Back” commemorating the late rapper. Joe says “I thought it was incredible. I thought it was great. I never seen a guy in my life get backlash for biggin’ up somebody.” Fat Joe also goes on to say that although Pun was a beautiful intelligent person, he was in fact surrounded by idiots “it’s unfortunate he was surrounded by a bunch of idiots. Nincompoops. You got a younger Spanish dude who’s hot in the streets and he wants to honor Big Pun and you throw slander at him and you disrespect him for only honoring Pun?”
Although he hasn’t heard the comments that Cuban Link made about Joell’s tribute he isn’t interested in hearing it because he says that Cuban Link is irrelevant “I really don’t tune in to these [guys]. Like, who are these [guys]? To be honest with you, they aren’t even relevant.”
