Jenna Ortega and Ismael Cruz Córdova take center stage in the brand-new trailer for the upcoming drama, “Finestkind,” and it appears that both of their characters might be getting tangled up in a world they shouldn’t be involved in.
The official storyline for the film reveals that it revolves around “two brothers, Tom (portrayed by Ben Foster) and Pete (played by Toby Wallace), who reunite as adults during a fateful summer.”
The backdrop of “Finestkind” is the high-stakes world of commercial fishing, where the brothers find themselves desperate to rescue their father’s struggling business. In a last-ditch effort, they turn to a dangerous gang in Boston to extricate themselves from their predicament.
Ortega takes on the role of Mabel, Pete’s romantic interest, who inadvertently becomes entangled in the underworld dealings. Oscar-winner Tommy Lee Jones assumes the character of Ray, the father of the two men, while Córdova portrays Costa, one of the workers on the family’s fishing vessel.
A month ago, Paramount teased the initial interactions and simmering tension among these characters in a preview clip, and Ortega’s performance was truly captivating.
In the new trailer, Tom proudly declares to Pete and Costa that he’s going to “show you what real fishermen can do.” However, their aspirations come to a screeching halt when they are intercepted by the coast guard while attempting to fish in prohibited waters.
