Netflix, the world’s leading Internet television network, announced that production has commenced in various locations in Mexico on the new Spanish-language comedy and NetFlix Original, Club de Cuervos, that will launch globally on Netflix later this year.
The comedy, Club de Cuervos, began filming in Mexico earlier this year as reported by Variety. It will join the other already popular Netflix original series, House of Cards and Orange Is The New Black.
The 13-episode series, set to launch on Netflix later this year, follows the heirs of a soccer club after the owner’s death. The show promises to offer a satirical look at the world of professional fĆŗtbol.
The series stars Mariana Trevino, Stephanie Cayo, Daniel Gimenez Cacho, Antonio de La Vega, Luis Gerardo Mendez, Gaz Alazraki and more actors and actresses from throughout Latin America.
Produced by Gaz Alazraki, Leo Zimbron and Mike Lam, the story was created by Mike Lam and will be directed by Alazraki for Netflix.
Netflix has big plans to expand its Latino-centered content in 2015. The streaming service will debut an origial series set upon the life of Colombian Drug lord Pablo Escobar early this year, Narcos stars Pedro Pascal, Wanger Moura, Boyd Holbrook and Ana de la Reguera.
To put this into perspective, Netflix is the world’s leading Internet television network with over 53 million members in nearly 50 countries.
