Urban Merengue singer Antonio Peter de la Rosa (Omega) was arrested Monday for failing to pay child support. Police executed a warrant issued on August 14 by court against Omega for breach of handling 10,000 pesos (about $235) to his 8 year-old daughter who he has with Wendy Rodriguez.
The controversial Dominican artist is no stranger to imprisonment. He has been arrested on several occasions and has been subjected to court on charges of domestic violence and breach of contract. The last time being in May when accused by a local businessman for breach of contract. A court in the province of Santiagole set bail at three million pesos (over $70,000) to be able to recover his probation.
Omega must pay the amount of support that is established by Justice Ingrid Olivares or reach an agreement with the girl’s mother otherwise he is facing a two-year sentence in a Dominican prison. He was arrested after leaving the courthouse in Santo Domingo, where he is on trial for physically assaulting his former partner dancer Mercedes Yuly Lopez which was postponed to November 18.
