Sara Ramirez is best known for playing Callie Torres on the hit ABC show Grey’s Anatomy. Ramirez isn’t as complicated as the orthopedic surgeon she portrays on screen. Torres represents both the Latino community and the LBGT community, a rare sight in network television today. Her character’s pregnant with an old flame/best friend/McSteamy’s child while trying to mend her relationship with her lesbian lover. Off-screen though, Ramirez has got it all figured it out. Ramirez is proud to represent the plus-sized women, and wouldn’t care to be on the other side of the knife. It was revealed that before her on screen husband, George O’Malley, played by T.R. Knight, was killed off, Ramirez grieved her best friend. As hard as it was being in the hospital for her now deceased friend and being on a set terrifyingly similar, Ramirez pulled through and is now happier than before. “I’ve never been very cookie cutter. If I choose something different from the status quo, it’s my responsibility and my choice to live my life that way”, Ramirez told Latina magazine for their March cover. It’s lovely seeing actresses loving the skin they’re in, isn’t it?
