There’s nothing quite like an unforeseen travel mishap to dampen the mood while you’re on vacation. Before you go losing your temper, and ruining what might otherwise be an excellent getaway, read these tips:
Plan ahead. Always put a spare outfit or two in your carry-on. This way if your luggage gets lost, you have something to wear in the meantime. If you’re planning a short vacation, consider taking just a carry-on and avoid baggage claim altogether.
While lost baggage is a possibility, so is losing other items. Refrain from storing all your money in a single place. Keep some of it in the safety box in your room, or another part of your room, if you don’t trust the hotel personnel. Never carry all your money with you. Keep a copy of your passport and carry that, instead of your actual passport, which can be a nightmare to lose. Keep your phone close to you and locked. Verify that you have insurance on your phone before leaving.
Your attitude plays a huge role in the kind of vacation you end up having. If you lose something, keep calm. Getting angry won’t make whatever you’ve lost reappear. It takes a cool head to resolve these kinds of things.
Have you experienced any travel mishaps? How did you cope?
