As duly expected, Adamari Lopez won Univision’s second season of its competitive dance show “Mira Quien Baila”, receiving two million votes from an adoring public. A crowd favorite from the start, the star beat out singer Priscila Angel, who took second place in the competition, and actor Erik Estrada, who placed third. The actress dedicated her triumph in the competition to her fans as well as her family and God, who she claims got her through the competition and to the finals.
The star’s accomplishment not only signified a win for her profession and for her charity, the Susan G. Komen for the Cure organization for breast cancer research, but it also marked the end of her chemotherapy sessions. Lopez was diagnosed with breast cancer in March 2005. After undergoing surgery in 2006, the actress reported that she was in remission.
Lopez’s win brought the show the highest number of viewers in the US for Latin programming. The prize money of $50,000 will be donated to the actress’ charity of choice.
