Puerto Rican actress and host Adamari Lopez dishes on her marriage and divorce to singer Luis Fonsi in her autobiography “Viviendo.” The couple divorced in 2010 supposedly due to Fonsi’s infidelities. The Mira Quien Baila star didn’t admit that Luis cheated on her but she did say that she turned a blind eye to any “signs” of infidelity. She also claims that Fonsi showed very little support during her publicized cancer battle. “He once told me that he desired me less as a woman,” Lopez confessed on a Telemundo talk show. “I think that was one of the hardest moments [of my cancer battle]. When the person you love so much stops desiring you.”
The actress admitted that her former partner had a child with another woman, when she wanted to be the first and only to make him a father. She revealed that becoming a mother was one of her greatest dreams, which was overshadowed after being diagnosed with breast cancer. Fonsi fueled her enthusiasm by accepting 11 fertilized embryos which were frozen in order to be used once she overcame the dreaded disease. Faced with such an act, Lopez decided to keep her left breast as she wished she could breastfeed her first baby. However, everything changed when one day, in the midst of suffering because of the divorce process, Luis called, causing her to think he reconsidered and would give it another chance. She thought the singer called to give her the good news but it was actually to let her know he was soon to become a father with his new partner, Agueda Lopez, and just wanted to communicate with her before releasing the news to the media. “And at that moment I felt the loss of his love was tougher than breast cancer,” Adamari stated. Lopez also said the painful process contributed not only physically, but also to her self-esteem. “Every day is a process and I think now I have much more strength than before. I think he [Fonsi] put me through such beautiful and painful moments to give me all the tools to go to recover and be the Adamari I used to know and the need to be happy with me, not for anyone else,” she added.
The backlash has had several Adamari fans post insults to Fonsi’s Facebook page which has made the actress come out in defense of her former husband. She recently stated “He deserves to be happy. Nothing that he did was on purpose. Sometimes you make mistakes.” Lopez has already forgiven him because she admitted he helped a lot during their marriage. “He himself gave me all the tools to go and recover. I got stronger and I thank him a lot. Today four years after (what occurred with Fonsi) I love him and always will. I admire the artist who has managed to get by and respect the man who lived with me and made me happy at one point,” she said. She also stressed that what happened in their marriage was that Fonsi “ran out of love and did not know how to say it, did not know how to handle it. I let a lot of things happen. It was my fault for letting him go.”
