Saturday’s fight card at the Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden may give us a look into a pair of potential future world champions.
The Top Rank card features super middleweight Edgar Berlanga and junior middleweight Xander Zayas both of the young men of Puerto Rican descent are talented, Edgar is more of a puncher, who relies on his heavy handed punches, while Xander can do both box and punch and both are dynamic.

Berlanga, 24, who hails from Brooklyn, New York, had a solid amateur background, and turned pro at the age of 18, and he’s been a knockout artist since, compiling a pro record of 18-0 with 16 knockouts Berlanga began his professional career with 16 consecutive first-round knockouts. That streak was finally snapped in April 2021, when he went all eight rounds against Demond Nicholson.
In the co-main event Xander Zayas, 19, from Puerto Rico, now living in Florida, started boxing when he was 5 years. He won two USA Boxing National Champion and if he met the age requirement at the time, (he was too young), Zayas was a lock to represent the United States at the 2020 OlympicsInstead, Zayas signed with Top Rank and made history as the youngest fighter ever sign to the promotional company.
Zayas (12-0, 9 KOs) didn’t let restrictions from COVID-19 prevent him from progressing in his career. The junior middleweight has already fought 12 times, with eight of those bouts coming since the start of the pandemic.

The fight will be televised and streamed live on ESPN + with the early preliminaries starting at 7pm.
