García (32-0, 27 KO), 25, was dominant, beating the soon-to-be-30 López (33-3, 30 KO) by fourth-round TKO.
López was floored in the second round by a straight right and sent to the canvas again in round four by a left hook. He’d beat the count, but the referee spared him from taking further punishment, stopping action with 1:35 left in the fourth round.
Note: According to reports, because García arrived at Friday’s weigh-in at 128 pounds (above the featherweight limit), he was stripped of his WBO 126-pound title and had to reach a six-figure settlement with López. For this reason, only López was fighting for the WBO featherweight title Saturday.
