In Africa, a child dies every 45 seconds from Malaria. This life-threatening disease is caused by parasites that are transmitted to people through bites of infected mosquitoes. Sub-Saharan Africa is plagued with this deadly crisis, accounting for 95 percent of Malaria related deaths. Underprivileged communities are at the highest risk of transmission and death, being unable to afford treatment and having limited resources to receive healthcare.
ING Activewear has joined forces with Touch The World, Custom Designers 5001 FLAVORS other dedicated supporters for the launch of the Code Purple campaign, one of the largest global initiatives to help save millions of African children and adults dying from Malaria every year. ING Activewear has developed a fabric that is mosquito repellent and certified which they have used to create a product called the MOSKEETO Hood-e. The MOSKEETO Hood-e, co-designed by 5001 Flavors is a certified product, which comes with a repellent that provides protection from Mosquitoes and other biting insects that carry known diseases such as Malaria, Dengue fever, West Nile, and Lime disease.
ING Activewear’s goal and ultimate mission of the Code Purple campaign is to provide and distribute the MOSKEETO Hood-e to everyone living in high-risk areas in Africa and ultimately save millions of lives. ING Activewear, Touch The World, 5001 FLAVORS and the fashion designers associated with this project will be playing a direct role to help raise crucial funding needed to bring this technology to the masses for support, prevention and education to the more than 225 million cases of Malaria reported each year worldwide.
