Years of playing second fiddle to stars like Britney Spears and Lady
Gaga must really be taking a toll on Christina Aguilera.
Her first album in four years has become somewhat of a worldwide
laughingstock. Sony is giving it away for free when you buy an mp3
player overseas and the US barely even noticed she had a new album at
all.
At a press conference for her movie, Burlesque, she was asked about
the cold reception to Bionic, to which she replied:
“If the album sells or if the songs are a hit, I don’t care and I
don’t need to know it, I did my part and I gave 100% while I was doing
it, and I’m proud of this work. The creative process is my thing, I’m
an artist and once something is over, I look forward for what is next,
and I don’t look back.”
Was that just a little bitter or is that just me? We find it hard to
believe that she doesn’t care that Ke$ha sold more records than she
did this year. Though we’re sure she’s genuine about not wanting to
look back on this trainwreck.
Maybe her albums would be more successful if she stopped trying to be
something she’s not.
