Grammy and Latin Grammy-winning singer Elvis Crespo has been accused of sexually assaulting a woman during an appearance two years ago at a Bucktown, Chicago nightclub. A woman named Leoanny De La Cruz is suing Crespo accusing him intent to sexually abuse. She states that he tried to take her clothes off and forcing himself on her sexually during a Feb. 18, 2011 concert at V-Live nightclub.
After careful consideration De La Cruz decided to go after Crespo in court although the incident took place two years ago. Her lawyer, Scott Blumenshine stated “The decision to seek redress in public courts is not a decision that’s made lightly and the decision to go forth was made after careful consideration.” De La Cruz seeks damages for “battery, emotional distress and negligence.” According to Blumenshine, De La Cruz met Crespo in a pre-event gathering at the club and that the alleged attack occurred after he finished performing.
Elvis denies the accusations simply saying “None of the events cited in the lawsuit ocurred. The matter is now in the hands of the lawyers.”
