Bongos Cuban Cafe along with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida and its sponsors: Sedano’s Supermarkets and Baptist Health South Florida are partnering with three local charities to feed friends and families in transition on this Thanksgiving Day at the 4th annual Thanksgiving “Feed A Friend” presented by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida.
Big Brothers & Big Sisters, Camillus House, Chapman Partnership & Caring For Miami will be inviting over 1500 guests to join together on the day of thanks for a Cuban-American, fusion holiday feast at Bongos Cuban Cafe (601 Biscayne Blvd.) on Thursday, November 24th from 11am-3pm.
Families in transition will be able to join together for a Thanksgiving meal featuring traditional American classics such as roasted turkey, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole and cranberry sauce in addition to a traditional Cuban lechon asado (roasted pork) and traditional Cuban fixings including fried plantains and cassava (yuca) in mojo sauce. LIVE Music by Zarabanda, pumpkin pie, rice pudding and children’s activities including face painting and crafts will provide a sweet finish to a day of giving thanks.
“Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday, it’s about sharing family, food and love. Which is why the “Thanksgiving: Feed A Friend” is the most special event we do all year, no gift giving involved except for the gift of love and care for the families that need it most.” says Gloria Estefan
“I feel it’s so important give back and especially give back to a community that has given us so much. This event is proof that the giving spirit is alive and well”, says Emilio Estefan. “We are excited to once again partner with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida and our sponsors: Sedano’s Supermarkets and Baptist Health South Florida for this special event”
Celebrity volunteers will be on hand to spread holiday cheer and help serve on the food line.
“Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida is extraordinarily proud to return for the fourth year to support this very worthwhile event,” says Market President Penny Shaffer. We look forward to joining Gloria, Emilio and the many volunteers once again as we deliver a much needed warm meal to families in transition. The “feed a friend” event is truly what the holidays are all about-giving back and saying thanks.”
