Omega Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated (OPBSI) is proud to announce
that the Alpha Beta Alumnae Chapter in New York City, is hosting
“Educando Nuestra Comunidad: A Night of Teaching & Overcoming”
(E.N.C.A.N.T.O.), an event centered on raising awareness of domestic
violence in the New York Metropolitan Area.
In an effort to educate the community about this significant issue, Alpha Beta Alumnae Chapter
will host a cocktail party on the evening on October 16, 2010 at East Harlem Café in New York
City. Harlem Café owner, Michelle Cruz, is a member of Women of El Barrio, an organization that
hosted East Harlem’s “Bride March” which further spreads awareness of domestic violence.
Alpha Beta Alumnae Chapter worked diligently this summer to raise funds for E.N.C.A.N.T.O.
through their “Cocktails for a Cause” series held at lounges all over New York City, where they
collected a $5 donation from each attendee. The event itself will take the form of a lively semiformal
cocktail party filled with music, poetry, art, and special guest performances.
Attendees will
have the opportunity to network with professionals while making a difference in the community at
large.
Partial proceeds from E.N.C.A.N.T.O. will benefit Sanctuary for Families, the largest non-profit
organization in New York State dedicated exclusively to serving domestic violence victims and
their children. Partial proceeds will also benefit the Ray of Hope Walk of OPBSI to be held in
October 2011.
