FixNation will be hosting a hand-crafted alter
at the annual Day of the Dead celebration on October 30, 2:00 PM – Midnight, at the Hollywood
Forever Cemetery in Los Angeles. The group’s altar will be dedicated to all of the beloved kitty
souls who have crossed over, and they will especially be honoring the many homeless cats who have passed without knowing human love in their lifetime here on earth.
FixNation will have bilingual literature about feral cats and their Trap-Neuter-Return program, educating people about
peacefully co-existing with the cats within our communities.
The annual Day of the Dead celebration is a spiritual tradition that dates back thousands of years to Aztec times. Celebrated in Mexico and widely throughout the Hispanic community, it honors the memories of our ancestors and the beloved souls of friends and family who have passed. It is
a time when the veil is lifted between the living and the dead, and the two realms come together in a festive tribute to life, death and rebirth.
The largest Day of the Dead celebration in the nation is held annually at Hollywood Forever Cemetery, LA’s oldest memorial park, typically drawing crowds upwards of 11,000 visitors. This year, they will be combining the celebration with the Mexican Independence Bicentennial and the
Revolution Centennial.
FixNation would like to honor your beloved kitties as part of the day’s celebration!
FixNation wants to honor all of the kitties that their friends, family, trappers, volunteers and donors have loved over the years who are no longer with us. For anyone who has cared for and loved a precious kitty soul who has since passed away, whether one in your home or one on the streets, please send FixNation a photograph of your feline friend to include in their alter display.
The organization will post the photo on their alter, so the memories of your beloved kitty will be called upon, honored and celebrated on that special day.
If you would like to send in a photo — you can either email a digital image
to [email protected], or you can send a hard copy print to FixNation’s clinic office at 7680
Clybourn Ave, LA, CA 91352.
PLEASE NOTE: Hard copy photos will not be able to be returned,
so please make sure it’s not your only copy!
