Guerrero, currently the interim WBC welterweight champion, was booked for attempting to board a Las Vegas-bound flight with an unloaded, semi-automatic Smith & Wesson handgun. No ammunition was recovered.
According to the New York Post, Guerrero arrived in New York on Monday and said that the media, knowing how much he enjoys hunting, “requested he bring the weapon for a photo op.”
The Gilroy, Calif. native actually turned 30 Wednesday and is scheduled to fight Floyd Mayweather, Jr. (43-0, 26 KO) in Las Vegas on May 4 for the The Ring and super WBC welterweight titles.
Guerrero has yet to be formally charged.
