Gina Rodriguez new TV comedy “Not Dead Yet” will debut soon and at the same time, she’s getting ready to give birth to her first child with husband Joe LoCicero. In a recent interview Rodriguez shared how she is balancing her pregnancy while also launching a new show.
“That’s what life is,” she said. “It’s everything, everywhere, all at once, right? I love that movie, but also the title is just so apropos to life itself.”
She continued, “It’s all the things. It’s all the things, all at once. And I’m just trying to let go,” she continues. “At some times, successfully letting go. At other times, gripping too hard.”
Rodriguez is trying to savor all of it, saying, “When you sit in it, it feels like you’re alive. I enjoy that feeling.”
“Not Dead Yet” is a comedy, created by David Windsor and Casey Johnson (This Is Us, The Real O’Neals). It stars Gina Rodriguez (Jane the Virgin) as Nell Serrano, “a broke and newly single self-described disaster, working to restart the life and career she left behind five years ago. When she lands the only job she can find…writing obituaries, then Nell starts getting life advice from an unlikely source.”

Adapted from Alexandra Potter’s book Confessions of a 40-Something F**k Up, the half-hour comedy also stars Hannah Simone (New Girl), Lauren Ash (Superstore), Rick Glassman (As We See It), Joshua Banday (Upload), and Angela Gibbs (Hacks, Black Jesus).
Not Dead Yet marks Rodriguez’s first leading role in a broadcast TV series since Jane the Virgin, which ran for five seasons and earned her a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy.
Not Dead Yet premieres on ABC February 8, 2023. It will also be available to stream on Hulu.
In “Not Dead Yet”, Rodriguez plays a woman who returns home to California after a breakup, only to find herself working at an old job that challenges her in unexpected ways.
Rodriguez stated: “I really love playing this character that is flawed but trying so hard and wanting so badly to fix or to feel better or to just be happy after this,” she explained. “You’ll end up seeing over the course of the series why and what she went through, what sent her off on this new journey. I really just love that.”
Being a part of a series like this has also allowed Rodriguez to reflect on how she’s living her own life, specifically when it comes to being mindful of appreciating what’s right in front of her.
