Multi-Platinum artist, Juan Luis Guerra scored a total of four nominations for the 2010 Latin Grammy. The artist was nominated in the top categories, including Album Of The Year “Asondeguerra”, Best Contemporary Tropical Album “Asondeguerra”, Best Topical Song “Bachata En Fukuoka”, Best Short Form Music Video, “Bachata En Fukuoka”. The announcement was made today during a press conference hosted by LARAS at the Avalon Hollywood, California. The 11th Annual Latin GRAMMY Awards will be broadcast live on the Univision Network from the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas on Nov. 11.
Guerra has accumulated countless awards in his successful career as a musician, including 9 Latin Grammys, 2 Grammys, 10 Billboard Awards, and 4 Latin Billboard Awards., The Latin Grammy Academy (LARAS) named him ‘Person of the Year’ in 2007, while the Dominican Senate chose him as the ‘National Singer/Songwriter.’, Billboard Magazine recognized him for his untiring social and philanthropic efforts by awarding him the Spirit of Hope Award. His alma mater, Berklee College of Music also awarded him an honorary doctorate in May 2009.
This week Juan Luis invaded the Billboard Tropical radio charts by positioning his 3 singles, “La Calle”, “La Guagua” and “Bachata en Fukuoka” in the Top 40, while his album Asondeguerra is still on top of the sales charts in the US, Latin America and Spain.
