Nina Mansfield’s feel-good, look-good comedy, Gymnos: A Geek’s Tragedy, will be showcasing its long-awaited premiere on September 26, 2013 running through October 6, 2013 at New York City’s HERE (145 6th Ave).
Producer, Director and Personal Trainer Adyana de la Torre brings her two favorite worlds together – theater and fitness – in this feel-good, look-good comedy that embraces aspects of a Greek comedy such as choral odes, dance and commentary on the gym (acting as a character of its own).
“Fitness has been such a blessing. It not only keeps me in shape but also am able to really help people and make a difference. And now I’m able to bring it into the theater,” says de la Torre.
The play follows its “Hero”, an out-of-shape playwright, as he heads to the gym for the first time to conquer his writer’s block and attract his muse. Led by his subconscious (a bikini clad chorus), he is subjected to a host of obstacles while being introduced to 25 lovable, yet peculiar gym characters. Can facing his worst fears lead him to inspiration?
The audience can expect “scantily clad men and women, upbeat music, lots of dancing, an IFBB pro body builder and really funny stuff,” according to de la Torre. You won’t want to miss this show! Buy your tickets today!
