Kat Von D is engaged, and it’s twitter legitimate.
On Saturday, the famous tattoo artist was proposed to by Joel Zimmerman, artistically known as Deadmau5. In the spirit of the social media age, the DJ asked his on-again, off-again girlfriend’s hand in marriage over Twitter, allowing the couple’s multitude of followers to witness the grand moment.
The two celebrities have had a whirlwind romance. Zimmerman and Von D began dating in September of this year. Although they broke up in November, the two reconciled in time for the holidays.
According to his special tweet, Zimmerman did not plan to propose until late December as a Christmas gift to Von D. However, it appears his excitement and anticipation got the best of him, and he popped the question early. He tweeted, “I can’t wait for Christmas so…Katherine Von Drachenburg, will you marry me?” Attached to his tweet was a photo of the engagement ring with a description stating, “Changing the diamond to a black diamond FYI. SOrry for the jpg…they’ll finish the actual ring soon I hope. I love u.” The ring, which has two tiny skulls on either side of its diamond, seems fitting for Von D’s hardcore rocker style.
The tattoo artists promptly accepted the proposal via Twitter and stated, “”Mi corazon! Thank you all for the lovely congratulations! Please excuse me while I go squeeze the hell out of my fiance,” to which new fiance replied, “Holy f–king s–t. I’m engaged and stuff! Thanks for the well wishes and support from the horde and everyone else. Brb while i spend the rest of my evening with my future wife.”
