Although the internet was abuzz at the end of last month with claims that the singer, actress, and now judge may have been caught in a copying snafu concerning her recent single, but during an interview last week Jennifer Lopez denies ever hearing about her latest single On the Floor sounding anything like Kat DeLuna’s Party O’Clock. An interesting note about both singles is the connection to the producer who produced them, one Mr. RedOne who received wide recognition for his work done on Lady GaGa’s The Fame album.
During an interview on Despierta America, reporter Birmania Rios interviewed Lopez at Radio City Music Hall and asked the American Idol judge about the rumor circulating online that she may have copied DeLuna’s song. After being informed about these rumors, Lopez, with a surprised glance of camera to an individual reportedly from within her own camp, and replies, “What? Really?”
According to an insider at the interview, Lopez’s camp specifically requested that nothing about the DeLuna situation be mentioned during the interview. A request seemingly ignored by Rios who continued asking Lopez about the similarities between the songs. When Rios mentions catching up with DeLuna to talk about the situation, Rios retells how DeLuna was “honored that [Lopez] would copy one of her songs,” to which Lopez gave a chuckle and insisted that she, “didn’t hear about,” the rumors pertaining to the songs being slightly identical. Copy or no copy, surly there have been many songs out there that sounds similar to other songs…just unfortunate the people of the inter-web have a good enough ear to point them out.
