With Thanksgiving literally around the corner, Kohl’s is featuring the Queen of retail marketing, celebrity Jennifer Lopez, in a social media campaign involving a series of commercials that will air during the American Music Awards this Sunday.
The commercial is called “Choose Your Own Black Friday” shows JLo preparing for her AMA performance and will let viewers via Twitter vote in real time on the outcomes of her route to the stage.
The series of commercials begin with Jennifer Lopez’s limousine getting caught in a heavy traffic jam, as a text from her manager asking where she is, eager and impatient (as most celebrities are), JLo decides to jump through the sunroof of escape the traffic and arrive to the show on time.
However, she is confronted with two options:
A.) Does JLo Run over the rooftop of every car on the road in her sleek stilettos?
Or
B.) Does she hitch a ride with a man on a moped who happens to be zipping through traffic?
This is how you help JLo decide on what to do:
Viewers get to choose her option by voting via Twitter and using the #JLoHitch for the moped option or #JLoRoofRun. The votes will determine the next commercial that airs during the show.
Throughout the commercial spots, JLo will be plugging Kohl’s and various items from her clothing and accessories collection at Kohl’s, including a line of jewelry called JLove that will also have its debut this week.
Jennifer Lopez described the commercials as “little action comedy moments that are based in reality.”
“I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been going to an awards show and gotten stuck in traffic,” she said.
