Fresh off a 6-10 season and second straight year of missing the playoffs, you’d think Jets head coach Rex Ryan would like to keep a low profile, right?
Think again. Because Ryan was recently pictured sunbathing in the Bahamas sporting, on his right arm, a tattoo of his wife, Michelle, wearing Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez’s No. 6 jersey—and nothing else. What this tattoo suggests about Ryan and his better half is something I’ll avoid delving into, but what I will say is that this story furthers the notion of Gang Green being little more than a three-ring circus these days.
Sanchez, presumably an unwitting participant in this strange tale, had an atrocious 2012-13 season, amassing 13 touchdown passes, 18 interceptions and 2,883 passing yards. The 26-year-old’s time with the organization could end this year if the Jets, as recent reports have suggested, are indeed open to making a change at QB.
And yet, no matter what happens between Sanchez and the only team he’s played for during his four-year NFL career, he’ll always have a presence on Jets head coach Rex Ryan’s right arm. … Got to give the New York Jets their due, because, for all the wrong reasons, they seem incapable of failing to amaze us.
