February 27th is Dominican Independence Day and the DREAM (Dominican Republic Education And Mentoring) Project will be holding a special evening fundraiser dedicated to this day, hosted by Pulitzer-prize winning author Junot Díaz and actress Celínes Toribio. The event will be held on Feb. 29th, at 7pm, at the Hotel Americano, located at 518 West 27th Street (between 10th and 11th Aves) with other special guests, such as Miss República Dominicana US, NYS Senator Adriano Espaillat, NYS Assemblyman Guillermo Linares, and expected guest NY Giants Victor Cruz (our current cover).
The DREAM Independence Day fundraising event honors the very best in Dominican culture and education and offers a unique and modern spin on the Día de Independencia. Enjoy the latest Dominican beats, while sipping custom Bacardi cocktails and tasting fresh Dominican recipes amongst a bevy of impressive guests. All proceeds will go towards The DREAM Project’s early childhood development and at-risk youth programs, offering thousands of children the opportunity to escape the cycle of poverty and empower themselves through access to quality education.
