This past Sunday New York City celebrated the annual Puerto Rican Day Parade, a parade which has become somewhat of a tradition in the city along with the St. Patrick Day and Thanksgiving Day parades. Although the day is largely celebrated by Puerto Ricans living in the Big Apple those who aren’t of Puerto Rican Lineage or from the Island itself can take part in the celebration. And Kate the WASP was one of the many who took part in the festivities.
In her latest installment, Kate the WASP (White Anglo-Saxon Protestant) ventures out to observe the Puerto Rican Day Parade. While seemingly really impressed with the sights and finding it hard not to only engage and have with other celebrators, Kate misunderstood the celebration since she couldn’t help but wonder if “Cinco de Mayo is a pre-party?”
Kate the WASP at Puerto Rican Day parade is the latest adventure of Kate trying to experience other cultures outside of her own. Her last cultural experiences were Kate the WASP goes to Occupy Wall Street, Kate the WASP goes to meet Hasidic Jews, and Kate the WASP goes to Harlem.
Kate the WASP is a fictional character portrayed by a stand-up comedian, writer, and actress living in NYC, Kate Hendricks who mocks and plays on the stereotype of privileged white women.
